If you’re looking to grind out trophies in Ghost of Yotei for the platinum, then one of the combat-related ones you’ll need to tick off is called ‘You Dropped This.’ This requires players to disarm and kill an enemy with their weapon. This isn’t something you’ll be able to immediately do in the game, however, so in this guide, I’ll run you through the steps you’ll need to take to successfully do this and earn Ghost of Yotei’s ‘You Dropped This’ trophy.
How to Disarm and Kill an Enemy with Their Weapon in Ghost of Yotei
The first thing you need to do is unlock either the ‘Disarm Counter’ or ‘Onryo Strike’ skill. This can be done by praying at Altars of Reflection, which can be found by completing some side quests, or by purchasing ‘Overlook Altar’ maps from the Cartographer for 50 Coins. Without either of these skills, you won’t be able to disarm an enemy without killing them.
If you choose to unlock the ‘Disarm Counter’ skill, you need to wait for an enemy to use a yellow glint attack in combat. The flash just before they execute the attack indicates that they’re charging this up. As they’re charging up a yellow attack, press and hold Triangle to disarm them.
To disarm an enemy with Onryo Strike, press L1 and R1 when you have three Spirit orbs (shown in the bottom left corner of the screen). This will instantly disarm the enemy, but it also has a chance of killing them in the process.
From my time using Onryo Strike, it has a high likelihood of also killing an enemy in the process of disarming them. As such, I’d recommend using the Disarm Counter skill for this trophy, but you can use Onryo Strike on a tougher enemy to disarm them if you find one that also does a yellow glint attack.
Now that their weapon is on the ground, you can pick up their weapon with R2 and throw it back at them by pressing Square. It’s worth noting that you’ll need to kill them with this thrown weapon to unlock the ‘You Dropped This’ trophy. To make sure it kills them, land some attacks on them first to lower their health.
I’d recommend unlocking this early on in your adventure, as you’ll then have plenty of opportunities to use it as you make your way through the main tales.
